Returning after hiatus, The Junior Skills Clinics will offer skill development to those in the U6-U8, U9-U10, and U11-U12 age groups only. Focusing on foundation skills, and often with modified equipment, these sessions will focus on teachings for a variety of events, dependent upon the participant’s age.
The event will be taking place at the home of Waverley Little Athletics Centre (Central Reserve, Glen Waverley) on the 24th January 2024.
Key Details
The Junior Skills Clinics provides a unique experience for athletes in the U6-U8, U9-U10, and U11-U12 age groups and their families. The athletes get to learn a whole bunch of new skills.
Across four rotations of 30 minutes, participants will be taught by a number of experienced coaches, including those involved in state team and JDS programs.
U6-U8 – Sprints, Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put
U9-U10 – Sprints, Long Jump – Triple Jump, High Jump, Javelin/Vortex
U11-U12 – Sprints, Long/Triple Jump, High Jump, Javelin/Vortex
Please Note: To maintain appropriate ratios and ensure that participants are getting the greatest level of attention, group sizes are limited.
Dates/Timetable
Participants must register in the session designated for their age group:
Session 1 (U6-U8) – Wednesday 24th January – 9.10am – 11.15am (120 places)
Session 2 (U9-U10) – Wednesday 24th January – 12noon – 2.05pm (120 places)
Session 3 (U11-U12) – Wednesday 24th January – 2.50pm – 4.55pm (120 places)
Entries Close: Monday 15th January 2024 (11:59pm) – unless capacity is reached sooner.
Entries are limited to 120 places per session. Once a session has reached capacity, it will be unavailable for selection.
