In addition to standard weekly competition, LAVic provides several ancillary programs for both competitors, who are chasing further skill development and/or competition opportunities, and for parents, who looking for additional ways to support their children’s participation.

Included below is a synopsis of those additional programs including, in brackets, the age groups and/or target groups. For more information about any program, please view the expandable menu and visit any relevant pages.

Offering mass participation activities designed to minimise down-time, the On Track program delivers fundamental skills that can be applied to more specific track and field disciplines in older age groups.

For new and existing members, the Junior Skills Clinic offers fundamental skills coaching and an introduction to new events that may be seen as members ascend to higher age groups.

Offering coaching in a lower-pressure environment, the Multi-Class Skills Clinics provide a welcoming introduction and formative pathway into athletics for those with a disability.

Engaging nine high-performance female athletes and a host of young women, StrideMentor is a mentorship program designed to engage those most at risk of dropping out of sport.

Little Athletics Victoria’s largest development program, JDS brings together participants from across the state for a series of face-to-face coaching and virtual education sessions.

Offering progression from the State Track & Field Championships, ALAC is a select entry, team-based championship that provides a great introductory step to national competition.

Built on the premise that sport is about life, life is not about sport, SALT’s Positive Parenting Program addresses the notion that many children form too much of their identities around their sporting talents and achievements, rather than the character strengths and the values they demonstrate.

The program challenges parents/guardians to see that sport is an opportunity to set their kids up for life success and are encouraged to help their children value their strengths such as courage, discipline, teamwork, good decision-making, good communication, and sacrifice. In this session, parents are provided with tools to prepare their children to be strong, caring, capable, and successful adults.

For more information about SALT, including their positive parenting program, please view their website below. For information about our upcoming sessions, please view the table below – please note that whilst registration is not mandated for face-to-face sessions, it is highly encouraged to ensure that we have adequate space and seating for all attendees.
