LAVic 60 Years Region Challenge
On the 20 October 2024, Little Athletics Victoria will be hosting a special ‘Region Challenge’, bringing together a selected group of U10-U17 athletes to compete in a team’s competition format.
In the Region Challenge, athletes will be awarded points for each of their performances and will go towards their Region’s aggregate points total. The teams with the three highest overall points, after pre allocated points have been applied will be presented with gold, silver or bronze medals (including team managers). Commemorative medals will be presented to the other four Region teams and certificates provided to all competing athletes.
Entry Fee: There is no charge for the athletes to participate in the Region Challenge.

Age Groups: U10 – U17 Athletes
Team Entries Open: 9:00 a.m. Monday 7th October 2024
Team Entries Close: 5:00 p.m. Friday 11th October 2024
Please Note: Dogs are NOT permitted within the venue. Dogs are not permitted at any Little Athletics Victoria event, please ensure you remind your parents, as they will be asked to leave if they arrive with a dog.
Eligibility
For an athlete to be eligible for selection by their Region for the 60 Years Region Challenge, athletes must:
1. Be registered & financial for the 2024/25 Season prior to the closing date for Region Team submission.
2. Have competed in their Region’s 2023/24 Region Track & Field Carnival.
Note: Athletes that have changed regions for the 2024/25 season are eligible for selection for their 2023/24 Region only (i.e. the Region that they competed at during the 2023/24 Region Track & Field Carnival).
Events Conducted
There will be six events for each age group and gender. Additionally, there will be Mixed Age & Gender 4 x 100m Relays and a Mixed Age 1200m Medley Relay. The following table lists the events held for the Region Challenge:
Mixed Age & Sex 4x100m Relay – Team must consist of 2 boys & 2 girls. For the U10-11 & U12-13 age groups there must be 2 athletes from each age group. For the U14-17 there must be a minimum of 1 athlete from each age group. Mixed Age 1200m Medley – Team must consist of one athlete from each age group.
Notes:
- Wildcard athletes can be used as the athlete one age group up.
- U16 and U17 will compete as one (U17) age group.
Region Challenge Points
The Region Challenge is a team event with each athlete scoring points towards their Region’s total, based on their placing in each event. Each Region has been pre allocated points based on each Regions performances at the 2023/24 Region Track & Field carnivals. Please refer to the ’60 Years Region Challenge & Open Day Technical Regulations’ for further information regarding the allocation of adjusted points. Please note the following:
1. Points will be allocated to each athlete who successfully completes an event.
2. No points will be allocated to athletes who have been disqualified in an event.
3. Points will be allocated per event as follows:
- 1st place – 7 points
- 2nd place – 6 points
- 3rd place – 5 points
- 4th place – 4 points
- 5th place – 3 points
- 6th place – 2 points
- 7th place – 1 point
4. For Relay events, points will be doubled for each place as per RC & OD Technical Regulation 41.
5. The team with the highest number of points when the pre allocated points and the points

On Track for U6-U8s from 11:45am – 12:45pm (assemble at 11:30am). Followed by face-painting!

60 Years of Little Athletics Commemorative Shirt
Athletes have the opportunity to purchase a 60 Years of Little Athletics Commemorative T-Shirt. This shirt features all 164 previous/current Centre’s along with a colourful design that represents each of Little Athletics Victoria’s seven Regions.
Event Pickup Shirt Orders will close on Tuesday 16th of October at midday.
Shirts are to be picked up at Region Challenge/Open Day on 20th October 2024.
