Dear parents and athletes – in accordance with the Victorian State Government decision this afternoon to place all of Victoria in Stage 4 lockdown effective midnight tonight (11.59 pm) to midnight (11.59 pm) Wednesday 17th February, all sanctioned Little Athletics activity – competition, training, onsite activities at the track etc – scheduled to take place within Victorian boundaries during this timeframe cannot proceed.

To be clear, this includes:

  • All Centre competition and training;

  • Region Track & Field Carnivals

Little Athletics Victoria (LAVic) has instructed Centres that, in accordance with the State Government’s extreme concern to stem further community COVID-19 transmission, no Victorian Centre has the approval to conduct competition or training today (Friday 12th February).

LAVic is in the process of reviewing all options with respect to conducting competition activities for the remainder of the summer track & field calendar – Region Carnivals and State Championships – and are working with the State Government to fully explore all the options available within the Public Events Framework and beyond.  Our permits are event, date and venue specific and the opportunities to formally vary these conditions, should this be required, is unknown at this point in time.

LAVic will provide further advice once those options become clearer.

In the event that the Region Track & Field Carnivals cannot proceed, LAVic will supply a full refund.

Our NSW-based LAVic affiliated Centres – Albury, Lavington-Jindera, Howlong, Barooga and Echuca-Moama – are free to conduct sanctioned activities.  NSW resident members may attend sanctioned activities at their NSW Centre. Victorian members of a NSW Centre are not permitted to participate in Little Athletics sanctioned activities for the duration of the lockdown period.
