The Victorian State Government has re-imposed stage three (3) COVID-19 restrictions on all local government areas within metropolitan Melbourne and Mitchell Shire. The restrictions are now in place and will remain for six weeks, where they will then be reviewed.

Stage 3 restrictions mean that residents will only be allowed to leave their homes for four reasons:

  • For work;
  • For food supplies;
  • For medical care or to provide care;
  • For exercise.

Community sport will also be banned for impacted communities. Meaning athletes residing in the locked-down areas will not be able to participate in Little Athletics activities during this time. Centres during these areas are also restricted from conducting Little Athletics activities.

“While this is extremely disappointing news for Little Athletics and thousands of our athletes in the short term, it is a reminder that our community faces a formidable, highly virulent and invisible foe and that there is much work that we must all do in order to defeat it in the months and years ahead.” Anthony McIntosh, Chief Executive Officer of Little Athletics Victoria.
